Nike Space Hippie: These sneakers are sustainable, futuristic and coming soon

Nike Space Hippie is a collection of shoes inspired by life on Mars that is all about the "Trash Transformed" concept. The sneakers are sustainably made from recycled materials and waste. With this, Nike wants to raise awareness for climate protection. The two new colourways of the Space Hippie 01 result in Nike's smallest CO2 footprint to date.

New Colorways: Nike Space Hippie 01 “Black Volt” and “Wolf Gray”

The outer material of the two colorways is made of "Space Waste" yarn, which is made from 85 percent recycled polyester from plastic bottles, clothing and yarn leftovers. The thin fabric gives both models a sock-like and sporty look. But probably the most striking feature of the collection: the midsole made of Crater Foam. Visually, the damping material is reminiscent of space. Its speckled finish is made possible by a special upcycling process. The insoles of the sneakers are made from ZoomX foam leftovers and ensure ultimate comfort and a unique design.

The Nike Space Hippie 01 "Black Volt" presents itself in deep black with white and neon green accents. The former adorns the exterior Swooshes and laces, while neon green is incorporated into the interior Swooshes, heel, and visible stitching. The upper includes white elements alongside black in certain sections to add some structure. In the “Wolf Grey” colorway, the upper material is mainly gray. Neon green embroidered Swooshes, light blue pull tabs, multicolored laces and a green Crater Foam sole complete the design. The shoe box the colorways are shipped in is made from recycled material and printed with vegetable ink. With this "Space Hippie" series, Nike is taking an important step towards sustainability and showing how good sneakers made from waste can look.
